Bardız kilimi, adını dokunduğu bölge olan Erzurum`un Şenkaya ilçesinin Bardız köyünden almıştır. Bardız kilimi dokuması Şenkaya yöresinin dokumacılık alanının kültürel birikimiyle oluşan bir el sanatı ürünüdür ve çok eskilere dayanmaktadır. Renk, motif, zeminde siyahın hâkimiyeti ile kendine has özellikleri vardır. Bu kilimlerde görülen iki özellik dikkat çekicidir: Birincisi Osmanlı Saray kilimleri ile aynı karakterde dokunmuş stilize edilmiş bitki motiflerinin yer aldığı kilimler, ikincisi doğal görünümlü iri güllerin meydana getirdiği kompozisyonlardır. Unutulmaya yüz tutmuş geleneksel el sanatlarımızdan olan Bardız kilimi atölyemizde usta öğreticiler tarafından özel tezgâhlarda dokunmaktadır.

Bardız rug is named after the Bardız village of Şenkaya district of Erzurum, the region where it is woven. Bardız rug weaving is a handicraft product formed by the cultural accumulation of the weaving field of the Şenkaya region and dates back to ancient times. It has its own unique features with its color, motif and the dominance of black on the ground. Two features seen in these rugs are remarkable: The first is the rugs with stylized plant motifs woven in the same character as Ottoman Palace rugs, and the second is the compositions formed by natural-looking large roses. Bardız rugs, which are one of our traditional handicrafts that are about to be forgotten, are woven on special looms by master instructors in our workshop.
